WELCOME BACK

It has been lovely to welcome everyone back to this term that we recognise as being a really good ‘working’ term free from many of the exciting distractions that take place in the other terms.  The children have all come back with an extremely positive attitude to school and the staff, especially Mr Marriot, are very pleased and proud of the mature and sensible way the children are working and behaving.  We look forward to seeing them make good progress throughout the term.

THANK YOU

All the staff would like to thank you for the cards and very generous gifts you sent in at Christmas time, they were very much appreciated.

VALUES EDUCATION

We are introducing Values Education at Brington which supports our ethos and underpins the SEAL work that the children do.  This month our Value is Honesty and we will be looking at all aspects of telling the truth and also being true to yourself.

ATTENDANCE

We are constantly seeking to improve the attendance of the pupils and many children gained certificates recently for good attendance or even 100% attendance during the last term.  The Governors have also produced a Medicines in School policy that agrees that we will administer prescription drugs such as antibiotics at school. Please read the enclosed policy carefully.  I hope these new arrangements will make your lives easier and also enable children to come to school as soon as they are feeling better. All parents who have children with medication already at school eg asthma inhalers will need to complete the Medical Indemnity form and return it to school as soon as possible.

CLASS ASSEMBLIES

We would like to introduce Class Assemblies to school life at Brington and are inviting parents of class 3 to attend an assembly on Friday 11th February at 2.00pm

MID-YEAR REPORTS

In light of good practice and comments on parental questionnaires about communication about pupil progress, we are introducing a mid-year report this year.  We hope this will keep you informed about the progress your child is making and will give some ideas for helping them to continue to make progress through the rest of the year.  A detailed letter will accompany the report just before half term.

COMMUNITY EVENT

We recognise the importance of the children making a positive contribution to the community and we would like to hold a community event of some sort each term.  This term we are inviting older members of the community to come for coffee and light refreshments on Thursday 17th February at 2.00pm.  If you have family members or neighbours who are in this category please make sure they know about this event.  Many thanks

REMINDERS

Please remember that the teachers are your first port of call if you have any concerns about your child in school.  They are always available on the playground at the beginning and end of the day or are very willing to make an appointment to discuss things in a more private setting.  Everyone at schools wants the best for the children and a quick chat early on can often sort out a worry before it becomes a problem.

We have noticed that several children have not been completing their homework this term.  Homework is a really useful tool for consolidating concepts learned in school and has a proven and measurable impact on learning.  Please support your child’s learning by encouraging them to try their homework.  If homework is causing real issues at home please talk to the class teacher.

We would ask that if children are attending after school clubs that parents and carers wait outside for the club to finish.  This is to ensure the safety of our children.
