Royal Wedding

imageThank you so much for your support of the Royal Wedding celebrations at school.

The children had a wonderful time at the street party and the wedding was beautiful!

Rings by Carol-Ann Duffy

I might have raised your hand to the sky
to give you the ring surrounding the moon
or looked to twin the rings of your eyes
with mine
or added a ring to the rings of a tree
by forming a handheld circle with you, thee,
or walked with you
where a ring of church-bells,
looped the fields,
or kissed a lipstick ring on your cheek,
a pressed flower,
or met with you
in the ring of an hour,
and another hour . . .

Trip to London

Plans are completed for our whole school trip to London next week and we are all looking forward to a fabulous day.  Please could any outstanding monies be paid into the office as soon as possible.

Staffing

imageWe are really pleased to inform you that we have a new site supervisor at school.

Helen Fagen who has worked at Harlestone for some time, is now site supervisor across the two schools and the cleaning is being undertaken by a new company. The improvement in the cleanliness of the school is marked.  This arrangement has also saved Brington a great deal of money which is very important in these extremely difficult financial times.

If you have queries or concerns about your child or classroom based issues please see the classteacher in the first instance. Mrs Fagen will be in school every morning, usually in the office, and will be available to take messages and deal with enquiries. The Business Manager, Hayley Richardson, from Harlestone is spending some time at Brington every week and is managing the finances. Hayley is putting in new procedures to get the two schools in line with each other and hopefully you will reap the benefits of these changes.

Helen will endeavour to answer the phone during the mornings and the answer machine will be regularly checked for messages, but please do feel free to ring Hayley or Pauline at Harlestone on 01604 842391 if you cannot get through.  We thank you for your support and understanding during this time.

Exciting Partnership News

imageA message from the Governors;

‘The Governors at both Harlestone and Brington Primary Schools have agreed to name our partnership the Althorp Partnership of Primary Schools (or APPS). We are grateful to the Althorp Estate for permitting us to use its name.

We are delighted to inform you that as a partnership we have been accepted onto a really exciting and prestigious creative art project.  We will be working with three professional artists who are all members of The Mighty Creatives to produce designs and then final pieces of work that will be displayed as part of the Nene 250 celebrations in Northampton during the summer when the town celebrates 250 years of navigation on the river Nene and the opening of the Marina.

We have several sessions booked with the artists and we will be moving children between the two schools so they can work together on this.  The first joint day is on Monday 23rd May when all the children will spend the day at Brington.  We would ask that the children come in older home clothes on that day.  The children will be looking at patterns and art from around the world so if they could wear clothes with patterns that would be even better!

We are holding our own celebration of the work done on Thursday 14th July at 1.30pm where parents and members of the community can see the results of our labour and also some of the professional artists’ work.  This will be in the hall at Brington.

As a start to this project Mrs Fagen, Josh (Harlestone), Scarlet (Brington) and I spent a very pleasant day last week having tea with the Mayor of Northampton and then travelling on the river in the St John’s Ambulance boat ‘Crusader’!’

The Big Safety Day + Big Weather

imageBy now you should have received your invitation to the Big Safety Day on Friday 27th May.

The children from both schools are very excited and we do hope you will be able to join us for part of the day.

Hopefully we are due to get some warmer weather during this term and would remind you that we ask the children to have a sun hat and water bottle in school.  (We have a supply of water bottles in school at a cost of £2.00)

We also recommend that the children come to school with a long lasting sun cream already applied.
