by Barbara Lomas Dear Parents and Carers Bikeability TrainingOur Year 6’s will be taking part in their Bikeability training sessions on the following dates: Monday 5th July Please remember that all children taking part must bring their bicycles and cycle helmets to school on all five days. All cycles must be road worthy and have a secure lock and are left on the school premises at your own risk. To enable the training to go ahead, we do need parent helpers. If we do not get this help, bikeability will not be able to take place. If you are able to help, please indicate on the slip below. Cycling_Proficiency_Reply_Slip.doc The permission slip attached, must be returned to school as soon as possible, if you wish your child to take part in the bikeability training. SwimmingSwimming will take place for Year 2, 3 and 4 on Friday afternoons, beginning on Friday 14th May through until Friday 16th July. Children may come to school in tracksuits on Fridays and need to bring the following swimming kit: Girls: Swimming costume (not bikini), hat, towel and appropriate bag. Boys: Swimming trunks (not shorts), hat, towel and appropriate bag. For health and safety reasons, children should be encouraged to swim without goggles. However, we appreciate for medical reasons, some children may require them. Please ensure that you write a letter to Miss Lomas giving your permission for your child to wear goggles, and outlining the reasons why. The children will be taught how to wear their goggles safely. Please note that goggles can cause serious problems, if used incorrectly, and any child found misusing goggles, will have them removed. We will inform you of this, should it occur. We will also keep you informed of any awards that your child earns. If you have any concerns about any aspect of swimming, please feel free to arrange a time to speak to Miss Lomas about your worries. If your child is not able to swim for any reason, we must receive this in writing, before swimming takes place. We have been advised that there will be some building work undertaken at the pool, but as yet we have not been given a date of commencement. When confirmation has been received, we will notify you immediately if there are any cancelled sessions. Kind regards,
