by Barbara Lomas Dear Parents and Carers Update on Vicki MastersWe would like to inform you that Vicki Masters has been offered and has accepted a new post at another school in the County. On behalf of the school community we would like to congratulate Vicki on her successful interview and appointment. We would also like to thank Vicki for her many years of dedication to the school community and we all know that her enthusiasm and care for children will positively impact greatly on her future role. We are confident that with support from our existing school teachers, staff and parents we can use these recent changes as a great and exciting opportunity, securing further strengths of best practice and ensuring a sustainable future. Update on the Executive HeadteacherIn addition, we would like to update you with the progress we are making in respect of the changes you are aware of. Governors at both Harlestone School and Brington School have now ratified an additional Joint Committee led by Governors from both schools. They are leading on the recruitment process for the Executive Headteacher. The post is currently being advertised on the NCC website and in the TES. The closing date is the 10th May, and interviews will take place on the 24th May. We have already received positive interest, with potential candidates visiting both schools. Update on Teaching StaffFollowing changes to the teaching staff, we have already advertised a new key stage 1 and 2 teacher. The closing date is the 10th May with interviews on the 13th May. We have also addressed any reduction of teaching time following the changes by offering existing staff the opportunity to fill teaching commitments. Therefore we will have the same level of teaching commitment going forwards for the next academic year. Change is exciting and provides some really positive opportunities, but can also be concerning for both staff and parents. On behalf of the Governors we are ensuring we make this transition as smooth as possible. Our School Improvement Partner at the Local Authority has consistently provided the School with good feedback, and has seen our evidenced success in the areas we have identified we want to improve. We would like to invite you to a meeting on the 7th May at 6.30pm to address any concerns or respond to any questions you may like to address. This meeting is important because the success of the school can only be achieved with support from the staff, governors, parents and carers, and the local community. Kind regards,
Barbara Lomas (Headteacher) and Ruth O’Donnell (Chair of Governors) |
