Learning

Early Years
Through our Foundation Stage curriculum, we aim to improve and extend the child’s:
- Language Acquisition
- Mathematical Development
- Knowledge and Understanding of The World
- Physical and Creative Skills
- Personal and Social Skills
These areas of learning will provide a foundation for later learning. As children progress, their work will be planned using the Key Stage 1 programmes of Study of the National Curriculum.
Key Stages 1 & 2
The following National Curriculum subjects are taught to all pupils:
The Core Subjects
English (Literacy), Mathematics (Numeracy) and Science
The Foundation Subjects
Modern Foreign Languages, ICT, Design Technology, PSHE, History, Geography, Music, Art and Physical Education. In addition, we also teach Religious Education and provide a daily Act of Worship
Children usually work to topics or themes, which may cover several subject areas, but some subjects are taught separately. Content of the curriculum is as practical as possible, and seeks to make tasks relevant to the daily life of the child. The school provides a happy and caring environment, so that children may work and grow in confidence, whilst undertaking a wide range of enjoyable activities.
Children are seen as individuals, and the curriculum is organised to meet the needs of all, including those with Special Educational Needs.
